Family fun is an adorable recreation of the magic of Bluey, the immensely popular Australian children’s television show from which the game is based, a game which the whole family can play and enjoy, sets in the wonderful Bluey’s world to play and interact with different elements of this Australian influenced world.
The gameplay design is simple and polished, and the game play is very engaging. Players can pilot Bluey, Bingo and other characters from the beloved TV show through rec-league sports, shopping excursions, silly car rides, and all of the craziness that comes with being a preschooler. From “Keepy Uppy” with a ball to a fake camping trip in the backyard, each is about the kind of imaginative play the show has become famous for. It’s easy to play, which is great for young kids, and the range of different things to do means you don’t get bored.
Visually, “Bluey” is a treat. The game has bright, colorful graphics which are almost identical to the show’s art style. Character animations are smooth, and the detail in replicating familiar settings, such as the Heeler family home and the local park, is impressive. The default sound effects and voice acting of the show cast also adds for an immersion factor, allowing the players to feel as though they are part of the Bluey universe.
But, the game does have a few drawbacks. There's some loss in depth, older game players may think the content is somewhat basic, and the game is quite short to play through, too. Nonetheless, for the preschool and early-grade-school-age children it’s aimed at, “Bluey” is a delightful and heartwarming gaming experience that fosters playfulness and family togetherness, and as such, an excellent addition to any family’s game collection.
